Mikkeller Stateside IPA

I brought Mikkeller Stateside IPA back to my table, and it appeared orange brown with a slightly off white head. It smelled fairly American (for an IPA) with plenty of citrus and pine and a hint of caramel. The flavor followed suit with ample citrus and pine and light balance of malty caramel. I couldn't smell or taste red, white or blue which wasn't too surprising. The beer had a medium body and carbonation. Stateside was bitter but not as bitter as an American Facebook argument. While on the reserved side for a Mikkeller beer, it was one of the better of their brews that I've tried, and it definitely was a very good east coast style IPA.

Overall: 8/10

About Colin Smith

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
