Grimbergen Tripel

The phoenix rose a golden brown with a thick white head that towered over the beer. Unfortunately this beer was shaken up by the long drive back to Hamburg from De Hopduvel in Ghent so its resurrection into the glass didn't go as smoothly as planned. I could smell apricot, tangerine, and white wine. The beer felt warm in my mouth with prominent flavors of apricot, tangerine, citrus, and white wine. There were also some hints of raisin and banana. I feel this beer suffered from how evident the 9% abv was. I like high alcohol content beers, but not when the alcohol is so obvious in the mix. This beer was good but not great.

Overall: 7/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
