Schneider Weisse Tap 5 Meine Hopfenweisse

This beer looked every bit the hefeweizen with its orange color and large white head. It smelled spicy, sweet, and fruity. I was surprised when I drank this beer because I felt like it tasted like two separate beers crammed into one glass. There were all the classic flavors of the hefeweizen with spice, cloves, fruit, and wheat but there was also a very hoppy presence which I felt conflicted with the other flavors. It also had a slight soapy taste. I also felt like between the battling flavors of the weizen and the hops that the stronger alcohol flavor didn't really work. I really enjoy hefeweizen and I can really enjoy some hoppy brews but I just didn't feel like this beer worked. Tap 7 from Schneider Weisse is one of my favorite weizens so I will give this another chance but it didn't make a great first impression.

Overall: 6/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
