Millevertus La Mac Vertus

I was immediately interested in buying this beer when I saw the bottle. It states that it is "the most Belgian British style stout". That combined with the proud tartan colors in the picture convinced me I needed to try it. The beer poured dark with a white head. The beer smelled sweet and malty. I was surprised when I tasted this beer because despite smelling sweet it actually tasted quite different. Initially there was a bite to the flavor followed by a sour hoppy taste with a small amount of malt. I think some of the bite came from the prickly carbonation. This beer was interesting and worth a try if you want to try a stout that doesn't taste like most stouts. This is a solid beer but not one I'll need to have again.

Overall: 7/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
