Camba Bavaria Eric's Stout

I was interested in trying this beer because German brewers rarely make stouts. It poured very dark and kind of reddish with almost no head and what little did pour immediately disappeared. It smelled slightly malty. I first noticed the prickly carbonation while drinking it. I was actually really surprised because as soon as I swallowed all I could think is that this is just a dunkel. It tasted so German. It ever so slightly reminded me of something kind of like Guinness Extra Stout meets a dunkel. I have to say it was overall boring but non offensive. When I bought the bottle it was close to the expiration date. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I had noticed that in the store. I've heard good things about Camba Bavaria so I will try some of their other beers but I was not impressed.

Overall: 5/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
