Pauwel Kwak

It seemed everything I wanted to drink at La Tireuse was out. I tried a few samples, and decided I should have a full glass of Kwak after having had samples of it a few times in the past. It seemed worth it just for the experience of drinking from the glass. My Kwak showed up looking pretty good with a large head and a clear amber. The aroma was a mix of grain, honey, caramel, and even some uncertain fruitiness. Grain, honey, and toffee were all prominent in the flavor. The fruitness was reminiscent of apple and pear. The beer was pretty sweet but also featured some bitterness. I was glad I finally got to try a full glass of Kwak, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as some of the better known Belgian beers I've tried.

Overall: 8/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
