Permon Black I.P.A. 13°

This was the first beer I had while at The Tavern. It worked okay with my blue cheese burger, but overall the burger was lacking in depth to keep up with the beer. The slightly burnt outside of the burger mixed with the inside which was a bit too rare for how I like it didn't really work. It seems hard to find a burger place in Europe that excels at a burger cooked medium rare for some reason.

Permon Black I.P.A. 13° was dark brown with a small head. The smell consisted of roastiness, fruit, and spiciness which was very interesting. I enjoyed the flavor of roasted malts, hoppy but unclear bitterness, caramel, and chocolate. The bitterness was medium which along with the moderate 5.7% ABV allowed it to be fairly drinkable. Overall I found this beer to be a bit less complex and bold as other black ipas I've had, but it was still pretty good.

Overall: 8/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
