Great Lakes Blackout Stout

Blackout Stout lived up to its name in appearance as it was dangerously dark. The only source of color was the tan head riding on top of the pool of blackness. The aroma was well defined with coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. There was also a slight bitter hops smell. I really enjoyed the bold flavors of coffee, espresso, chocolate, mocha, and roasted malt that dominated my palate. There was a great balance of sweet and bitter flavors which played well with the slight warming from the alcohol which was well hidden. I don't think Great Lakes gets as much credit as they deserve and this beer is a must try for a stout lover.

Overall: 10/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
