Maisel's Weisse Original

Here we have yet another solid German hefeweizen. The beer pours a deep cloudy orange with a large white head. As one would expect there are smells of banana, clove, and wheat. The taste follows accordingly with a heavy dose of banana and more moderate amounts of wheat, clove and spice. I feel with many of the more classic and well known German hefeweizens it really just comes down to a matter of personal taste. I also feel despite many people's brand loyalty, they would be hard pressed to pick out their regular choice in a blind taste test. With all that being said this is a good representation of a German hefe and worth trying, if for nothing else, just to experience one of the classics of the style.

Overall: 8/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
