Hopfenstopfer Incredible Pale Ale

When people think of German beer they don't think of IPA's but some brewers like Hopfenstopfer and Fritz Ale very well could change that. This beer was super frothy when I opened it and unfortunately I couldn't keep the head under control while pouring it. The beer was a light golden yellow. The main smells were citrus and spice. The flavor had tropical citrus, pine and a bitter/sour aftertaste. I actually found the bitterness detracted from how great the initial flavor was. Don't get me wrong I really liked this beer but it had too much bitter and sour for what I like. That said I will drink it again.

Overall: 8/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
