Bell's Kalamazoo Stout

I don't know how dark it gets in Kalamazoo but this stout that shares its namesake was jet black with a brown head. I'm curious about the brewers licorice that the bottle mentions because I know very little about it. I could smell plenty of roasted malts, char, and bitter chocolate. The main flavor was bitter chocolate but there were also plenty of roasted malts as well in this surprisingly bitter brew. I found this beer got pretty tasty as it warmed and became less bitter and more full bodied. This stout was impressive.

Overall: 9/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
