Burley Oak Raspberries of the Lost Tart

Despite living close by I rarely make the journey over to Two Stones Pub in Newark, DE. One day though I happened to look over their draft list and saw Burley Oak Raspberries of the Lost Tart shining through a sea of mundane suds. I haven't had the chance to drink many beers from Burley Oak, but their sours are worth seeking out.

Once I arrived and made my declaration of intent to the bartender I shortly thereafter received a dark and tempting libation. The dark lighting made it hard to judge the color, but it appeared a deep brown with hints of ruby and a tan head. Plentiful raspberries made a greeting aroma with hints of sweet and tart following. The flavor continued on with copious raspberry flavor surrounded by an interesting dichotomy of sweet and tart. Medium carbonation and a medium light body created an overall quite drinkable beer which I wish I could have more often. I'm just going to come right out and say this - I love berries!

Overall: 9/10

Hi, I'm Colin, I love a good hoppy IPA, but I can find immense enjoyment in a solid session beer, imperial stout, quadrupel or a nostalgic beer from my past.
